Capspeed Motorsport recently completed another significant technical project: the design, fabrication, and installation of a new roll bar on the Toyota Starlet EP81, personally undertaken by the team’s chief engineer, Kostas Kapourelakos. With extensive experience in chassis reinforcement and motorsport fabrication, Kostas engineered a high-spec roll bar tailored precisely to the structural characteristics and racing requirements of the EP81 platform.
The installation of a roll bar is a crucial upgrade for both safety and performance in any rally vehicle. By increasing chassis rigidity, a properly designed roll bar delivers substantial benefits: improved stability at high speeds, enhanced precision during directional changes, and greater resistance to the intense loads encountered in competitive stages. The lightweight and agile Starlet EP81 gains even more from this upgrade, achieving a noticeably more predictable and robust handling profile on both tarmac and gravel surfaces.
This specific roll bar was fabricated entirely in-house at the Capspeed Motorsport workshop, featuring high-quality welds, optimal tubing geometry, and perfect fitment at all mounting points. The installation process adhered to the highest safety and technical standards, ensuring full compliance with motorsport regulations and readiness for competitive use.
Projects like this highlight Capspeed Motorsport’s ongoing commitment to technical excellence and continuous development of its race vehicles.
