When the love for historic cars is mixed with the art of loving what you do, then SimcaRallye2, is created!
The absolute super – rare historical racing car, for the Greek data, is the pride of Capspeed but also a personal bet of its owner, Κostas Kapourelakos.
It all started, in 2006, when he bought from ODDY, an abandoned yellow SimcaRallye 2, a 1972 model made in France by Chrysler! Vandalized, hit at the sky and with a motor that, of course, did not work, since half of the parts were missing. Within a year, with the valuable help of associates and friends, the car was rebuilt and was ready to race! So, it made its first appearances in races, in blue color. A clumsy car, with a strange suspension, that Kostas needed a lot of time to get used to. He struggled with wheels, tires, springs and shock absorbers to fit it. The engine was constantly evolving. 2011 was definitely its year. Won the Championship of Historic cars up to 1,300cc, came second in the category up to 1,600cc and fourth in all historic cars built until 1975!
Simca is a genuine Rallye 2, with Rallye 3 mechanical parts. The camshaft is located in the third basement (ie downstairs). This is Cat Cams and it is very wild with 324 ° duration and 13mm valve lift. The latter, went through the process of painting with nitrogen (something like cryogenic painting) and now withstand the stress. With double springs and reinforcements on the roosters and reeds, the engine rotates above 8,500rpm, where the shift light shouts to change speed. The cylinder head has been streamlined by Capspeed and then the double 45-inch Webber clamps on it, which also wakes up the dead. Of course, the production of the racing sound has been undertaken by the 4 in 1 manifold of the French Maurelec.
The Simca ignition comes from Alfa Romeo Veloce. The bases of the engine and the transmission are made by Capspeed. The four-speed transmission comes from Rallye 3 with gears and complete from Bacci and the ratios change according to the race, achieving a final from 160km/h to 190km/h! Also the Bacci differential with an engagement rate of 60 to 80 percent! The brakes, made by Capspeed, are admittedly small, but what to squeeze into the 13-inch wheels? Just 244mm discs for front. Fortunately, the two-piston calipers back and forth do something. Patents continue in the field of posting. The rear suspension has acquired Capspeed zamfor and Bilstein shock absorbers intended for Peugeot 106 Rallye and work with springs from … Fiat 900T. What is this; A van. These unfortunates were loaded with tons of tools, rubble, etc., so the Italians had chosen hard springs. They found a perfect fit on the rear axle of the Rallye 2, as for the front suspension it is nitrogen but…. The rest should be kept secret… !!
It’s time for its final renewal! Our Simca is evolving for the last time. It is now ready to receive its final upgrade!
Stay tuned to our page to be the first to see it and learn some of the secrets it will hide under its hood!
